Handmade Lokta Paper

Paper

Worldwide Market Square

Lokta paper is made from the Lokta bush or Daphne bush, botanically known as Daphne Bhoula or Daphne papyracea. The bush grows in the Himalayan mountainous region at 6,500 to 10,000 feet.  The raw material is brought down into the Kathmandu Valley where the paper making process takes place.

In addition to the lovely products, the Lokta bush provides a sustainable source of pulp.  No plants die in the process.  The bush is harvested by cutting the stem at ground level without harming the main root.  Regeneration occurs in 2-3 years.

These exquisite rolls of paper are all handmade in the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal using natural dyes.  Great for painting or gift wrap.

Each roll contains 4 pieces of paper 20”x 30” in size.  Available in: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Natural and Pink.
